FUEL TANKS: TI Automotive Lands Major Supply Deal

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

TI Automotive, Auburn Hills, Mich., has been awarded a contract by Mercedes-Benz to supply fuel tank systems for several models of its cars.  The company said the global contract is the largest single-source contract it has ever received.

The agreement with Mercedes provides that TI Automotive will supply Mercedes-Benz with seven variants of plastic fuel tanks, fuel filler pipes and fluid carrying lines from different locations geographically close to the respective Mercedes-Benz production sites in Europe and on other continents.  System variants will include Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV), Low-Emissions Vehicle III (LEV III), and Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) for gasoline, diesel, hybrid and flex-fuel applications.

"We have positioned TI Automotive to be the preferred global partner by focusing on innovative technology, world-class quality, customer service and strong financial principles," said Bill Kozyra, chairman, president and CEO of TI Automotive.  "This award, along with the more than two-dozen other global and regional contracts we earned during the past 18 months, optimally positions TI Automotive for future success and leadership in the fluid systems market.  This is a great opportunity for us to further develop our position with Daimler AG as a long-term, reliable partner and provide its vehicles with some of the most innovative fuel system technology available."
